Purchased two authentic Hawaiian coral sculptures while vacationing in Dec 1990 from the Sea and Shell Gallery at the Whaler's Village in Maui. This was before it came illegal to take corals out of the ocean. These are Koch originals, made by George Koch Sons, Inc in USA.
Not being an expert, I researched photos of the two items we purchased and believe I have descriptions of our items.
1) Natural white lace cluster on a black base which I think is volcanic rock. The size is 4 1/2" tall and 4" wide. There is a tiny starfish glued within the cluster. This is not a perfect piece; near the base some of the coral has broken off. I am asking $ 50.
2) Natural Blue Ridge Coral; which I think is a stony coral. This was more difficult to find, so I believe its rarer than the white lace coral. This is a unique species of coral in the wild and in the aquarium. This sits on an acrylic base. 8" tall and 8" wide. Again, not perfect with a few chips. A starfish is glued to the coral. The tag said the specimen was Blue and the habitat was South Pacific. The color is more of a light gray than a strong blue. I am asking $ 70.
Take both and I will discount the price down to $ 100.
